Keeping you up to date with our visit to Paris (Easter 2011)
Just watched The Devil wears Prada and we’ve been to the Galeries Lafayette, climbed the Eiffel Tower - and got very cold, then watched a film about Paris.
It was so cold up on the Eiffel Tower that people were sharing hoodies!! Food is fine but, as always, vegetarianism is interesting in France! Amazing ice creams!
Thursday 26 March
0700 Arrive at Botanical Gardens. Load coach. Bring food and drink for the journey.
0730 Coach departs.
1320 Report to Eurotunnel terminal for the 1420 crossing to Calais. The crossing takes 35 minutes, but you will need to put your watches forward 1 hour.
1555 Arrive Calais. Travel to Paris suburb of Ozoir-La-Ferrière to the Campus Européen Ste- Thérèse.
2000 Arrive at destination. Dinner. Unpack.
2100 Film in Amphitheatre.
Friday 27 March.
0730-0800 Breakfast. Depart 0830 in coach.
1000- Explore Paris- film about the history and culture of Paris. www.exploreparis.fr
1230 Climb the Eiffel Tower to the third floor in the lift. On the way down, you could send a postcard using the special blue letter boxes on the first floor. There is a lot of information at all levels about the Eiffel Tower and its history. See if you can find 10 facts about the Eiffel Tower. Lunch on Eiffel Tower.
1500 Musée du Parfum. Guided Tour about the history and making of perfume and chance to buy some perfume in the Fragonard Shop.
Hopefully time to shop in the Galeries Lafayette department store round the corner from Fragonard. It is recommended for perfume, toiletries, food hall, souvenir, and, if time permits, it has an amazing ice cream bar on the 5th floor!
Return to Campus for evening meal 1900.
2000 film in the Amphitheatre.
Saturday 28 March
0800 Breakfast
0830 Leave for Versailles. You will need your passport with you to prove you are under 18. Visit in groups. www.chateaudeversailles.fr
Lunch on coach
1515 Musée de l’Orangerie visit- one of the most amazing Impressionist collections, including Monet’s giant Water Lilies. Decide which is your favourite picture and be prepared to tell the others about it in French. www.musee-orangerie.fr
Return to Campus for an early evening meal.
1930 2 hours French language tuition.
Sunday 29 March
0900 2 hours French language tuition.
1100 Leave for the Montparnasse Tower. www.tourmontparnasse56.com
Lunch on the tower.
Afternoon- Montmartre and the Sacré-Coeur. Time to visit the Sacré-Coeur in groups. Silence is obligatory in the Sacré-Coeur. Visit the Place du Tertre and watch the artists paint. Try an ice-cream or a crêpe. If you want to eat a crêpe inside as opposed to from a take-out stand, try Au Petit Creux on the corner of the road between the Sacré-Coeur and the Place du Tertre (rue du Chevallier-de-la-Barre).
1900 Meal at Bistro Romain.
Return to Campus by coach.
Monday 30 March
0800-900 Breakfast.
0900 Depart for Notre-Dame and Ile-de-la-Cite and the Quartier Latin. Some shopping time in the Latin Quarter and visit to Notre-Dame (like the Sacré-Coeur, please respect the silence). Lunch in the Latin Quarter or possibly in Notre-Dame/St-Germain-des-Pres Gardens if weather is nice, or you can wait and eat on the Bateau-Mouche.
1315 Bateau-Mouche trip on the Seine.
1500 Champs-Elysees- time for shopping! The chance to visit Sephora (perfume) Yves Rocher/ music and book stores. Hopefully time to visit the Arc de Triomphe and go up it if possible. Possible ice-cream from the world-famous Berthillon on the Champs-Elysées.
Return to the Campus for the evening meal.
2000 2 hours French language tuition.
Tuesday 31 March
0800-0900 Breakfast. Load coach.
0900 Depart. Lunch on coach.
1520 Report to Eurotunnel for the 1620 crossing. Put watches back one hour.
1555 Arrive Dover. We will stop somewhere on the way back for food, so do bring some English money for this.
2200 Arrive school.
